My Story
Once upon a time during the Victorian Age (or whatever you really call it), there was a girl who was name Mary. Mary is around eighteen to nineteen years of age. She’s very fair skinned, has red hair and a small face. Mary is in a relationship of almost two years. One year, ten months, four days, seven hours, sixteen minutes and two seconds to be exact. Her boyfriend’s name is Edward. When Edward and Mary were nearing their first anniversary (around ten months, four day, seven hours, sixteen minutes and two seconds ago), they had a fight almost everyday. This is because of small things. At the start of the their relationship, Mary didn’t really care about Edward, all she wanted from him was to be her driver and her sponsor whenever wherever she wanted to go, but in the other hand, Edward loved her so much. As weeks, months went by, Mary finally fell inlove with Edward. She fell so inlove with him that it came to a point that she even loved him more than he loved her. Which is bad, people say, in a relationship. One more problem that came up when she finally fell in love to him was trust. Mary knew Edward used to be a playboy and had girls all over him, she used not to care, but now that she’s inlove with him, she’s so jealous and suspicious that it came to the point of getting insecure whenever a girl says hi to him whenever they’re together. Mary became paranoid. Her state of being paranoid made her cheat on him, although she loves him dearly (or does she?). She went on a date with another man. She stopped seeing the other man because she got bored. Although, Edward never found out about it, the relationship is still rocky as ever before.
One day, Edward left Mary a note that said, “Meet and talk. Four o’clock. Ice Cream. Love, Edward.” Mary got the message at almost four and she went as fast as she could to the ice cream parlor. But when she got there, Edward wasn’t there yet. So she sat down and ordered her favorite chocolate flavored ice cream.
Now, here is a painting of Mary in the ice cream parlor (by Edouard Manet) with her ice cream in it. She is waiting for Edward who seems to be late, as usual. She got a cigarette from her purse because she was feeling weird about the development of their relationship. This time its really unstable because they had a fight again. She was about to light her cigarette when a thought came to her mind, “What if Edward is breaking up with me?”. She didn’t like the thought but it was possible. Edward might feel she was trying to control him already and he might not take it anymore. She knew she it was wrong to cheat, that she can’t risk to not have Edward in her life, and that she loved him so much that she can no longer continue doing it and she was sorry. But could he have found out about the other man or something else? Another girl? What?? She was going crazy with all the questions in her mind until Edward arrived. The End.

learning.. everything.
Last Tuesday, I learned about the three types of learning. The first one is “Classical Conditioning” or “Learning by Association”. In this type of learning, we get to know or remember things by associating it with another thing. I think I use this most of the time. For example, when reviewing for a quiz or an exam, I associate words that I have to memorize, with words which has almost the same spelling, meaning, or even how it sounds like. Another example is when I have to memorize terms, I associate it with its meaning so that it’s easier to memorize it. not only use this in my academics by I use it almost all the time. I use it in remembering people. If I see any leopard spots stuff, I immediately remember and think of my sister. If I smell this certain scent, I immediately remember my closest friend. If I eat syllvanas I immediately remember my high school days when I ate syllvanas all the time. If I hear the song “tattooed on my mind”, I immediately think of my ex boy best friend. Lastly, if I touch any silk, I immediately think of my bed.
The second type of learning is “Operant Conditioning” or “Instrumental Learning”. I don’t really get this but the way understand it, we learn things because we get rewards or punishments when we learn that’s why we do it. I’m not sure if my application is correct but when I was young my mom gave me everything I wanted, all I have to do is ask for it and be a good girl and have good grades. That’s my reward. That is why I made sure I did everything right.
“Cognitive Learning” is the third type of learning. Here, we learn things by first, understanding it. then comprehending it and finally analyzing it. I also do this all the time. If I lose something, I try to remember where I last saw it and where I placed it. This example is learning cognitive maps. Again, when reviewing for a quiz or an exam, I memorize enumeration by imagining a tree like effect in my
mind. The other one is observational learning or when we have models to imitate. Honestly, I do this when I’m not sure of what to do. Like, if I’m late for a class and I see everyone has a yellow pad and pens out. I immediately do the same because I don’t know what to do (this also applies to the first type of learning because I associate yellow pad and pens out to having a quiz). I also learn by observation when I’m not sure on what to wear on a date or in special occasions, this is why I ask my friends around on what they’ll wear.
I never thought learning had different types. I was never aware that I used all of it everyday in my life. Now that I know all about it, I will be more conscious and this will help me become a better person.

nstp. not a waste of time. ok. cmon.
Yes, I think NSTP is very good for college students. It will help us adjust to the “real” world. For example, it will make us aware of what we have to know all about it. Unlike any other subject, this will teach us something new that we don’t learn from the books. NSTP is also designed to serve the country. Its policies and program will also enhance our opportunity to take on the challenge. It’s also a program designed to expose us, college students, to ever increasing technology advance. It’s also good for our personality. Lastly, as from the name itself, it will train to serve the nation.
Yes, NSTP will contribute better to my citizenship. Number one, because it will make me realize that we all have to care for our country. Because of this, it will also make us become good citizens for we are better aware of what is going on around us. With NSTP, we will know what actions to take in different situations. Of course, the
bottom line here is we will become helpful.
Sometimes, people will think that NSTP is just a waste of time, but the truth is, it will
actually do us good. One reason is, it will teach us lessons, be it in the classroom or in the field. For example, in the classroom we will have lectures all about it. In the field, we can help build houses from scratch. Like what we did in our sociology class, last February.
Yes, NSTP will enhance my leadership skills. This is for a lot of reasons. One, leadership means able to guide or lead in something. Therefore, every activity involves leadership. Two, if NSTP is designed to serve the country, then we will have to lead the people. For example, we can help the country by helping out in poor day care centers. There, we will be leaders to little children. We have to teach them. It will enhance our leadership in small things like this. I have lead in my school’s chapel hour before.

me.now.
People perceive me as hard to approach but then I flash my toothy smile and the perception changes. I do not hesitate to talk and start a conversation even with a complete stranger. On my first week here at ----------, I initiated conversations with a lot of people who are now very good friends.
I stand five feet and two inches, very fair complexion, and oriental in looks which is funny. As my father has Portuguese origins and my mother has German origins so where I got my oriental look is a mystery to me.
By way of physical activity, I swim a lot, in equal intensity, I sleep a lot. Since I don’t watch t.v. that much. I discovered the world of books when my hands landed on The Hobbit and moved on to the trilogy of The Lord of the Rings. Magazines compete in my reading interests. Clearly, I love food. However, I do not like cooking. So I usually eat anywhere. From cheap-y eateries, fast foods, and fine dining establishments.
As my relationship with God, our Father, I was pretty confused then, because I was baptized as a Roman Catholic due to my father’s brother who is a Roman Catholic priest. But I was likewise exposed to my uncle, my mother’s brother, who is a pastor. Until the age of twelve, I chose to pursue my relationship with our Lord as a Born-again Christian.
Lastly, this is only my second semester here at ------------------------ because I tried my independence by enrolling -----------------------However, despite of the clean air and cool weather, I so missed the noise and pollution of Manila .Therefore, I made the seemingly stupid decision to comeback. But I love Manila and love --------------------
There is more of me but it can’t be said in just a minute and a half. But we have a whole semester to get to know each other. Thank you and good day everyone.

sports and recreation
I thought of a lot of possible recreational programs for my community. First, I thought of building a volleyball and basketball court. Especially, in our country we love sports. Badminton is also a fast growing sports here in the Philippines. So we can also build badminton courts. We also need multipurpose halls for lectures on livelihood and even employment for people who wants and needs it. Having a sports complex to serve everybody who needs a sports and recreational facility for the residents in my barangay wouldn’t hurt, too. It can accommodate bigger sports events and huge assemblies. It will also encourage sports recreational programs in my barangay in the first place.
Second is I thought of having an annual sports competition. This
Program can be an inter-barangay competition in which the best among the competitors will be chosen for the national competitions. It can also be a competition against schools. These people can also go to programs which deal with the enhancement of social and physical skills of everyone who has potentials and interest in sports. It can make people aware of improving their physical and mental conditions. It can also provide opportunities for players to discover their potentials in sports. It can be training for them to develop their skills and abilities in the kind of sports they would like to excel in for the any competition they wish to join.

who's life? edited
At eight in the evening of August twenty-five of the year 1987, my life began. I was a small and very fair-skinned baby. After two years, my younger sister was born. When we were growing up, our parents were fighting almost every night. The day came when they separated rooms. Then, when I was six or seven years old, my mom finally left the house for good.
After a few days, I cried and cried to my dad, begging him to bring me to my mom. Since the day my dad brought me to where my mom was, I never went home to my dad again, and I stayed with my mom until she found an apartment. We stayed there without my sister because my dad kept her with him.
My parents fought about the issue that siblings should not be separated when they are still young. So, they both agreed that my sister and me should at least see each other once a week. Every Saturday, my sister would visit my mom and me until she never went back home to our dad. My sister and I were lonely apart, but finally we were together again. We transferred to about five to six houses in a span of five years. Almost every night I would cry because of my parent’s separation.
After almost three years of my parent’s separation, my mom transferred me to a new school, a Christian school. There, I found my peace-- Jesus Christ. I received Him when I was twelve. When I received Him, I stopped crying every night, I just prayed instead of cry. I decided to trust Him, and I found peace. Maybe the separation was the way for me to know about Christ because if my parents didn’t separate, I might still be studying in a non-Christian school and wouldn’t have had the chance to know what I needed to know about Jesus.
Now, I’m used to seeing my dad at least once a month. We would either watch a movie or go shopping. Although, there are some difficulties, like who to spend Christmas Eve or Day with, but I am still grateful to our Lord because He has made a way for us to be with both our parents, though at different times.
I have learned that in life, if something happens, be it good or bad, happy or sad, I can still be thankful and accept the Lord’s plan for my life. No matter what happens because I have Jesus.

global warning forum
Yesterday, August 22, 2006, a talk or forum was held at the Prieto Hall. They said that it started at ten o’clock in the morning but I arrived around eleven
because my last class dismissed us super late. The forum is basically about global climate change. The speaker told us and talked about the changes of the climate around the world.
At first, I was in shocked as I entered the room and saw that it was full of people who were listening intensively to the speaker. So I glanced at the speaker and my emotion completely changed. The speaker, I wasn’t able to get her name due to my tardiness, was around late thirty, I think. Ordinary looking. Verbally, when I heard her talking, I was in awe. She talked so well! It’s like she’s so used to talking in front of a lot of people and really know what she’s talking about. She had this accent and talked fluently in English. Nonverbally, she exudes inviting, accommodating and persuasion in her aura. She uses her hands a lot to explain what she’s saying. She has great eye contact also which makes the audience listen to her more intently. As I just said, since she clearly knows a lot about the topic, she appeared to be confident, comfortable, and well adjusted to the audience.
The venue was comfortable depending on where you were seated. If you were early and had a chair all by yourself then good for you, but for late comers like me, we had no choice but to sit in the floor and endure the little space we have. The forum was quite long, from 10-12:30 which affected some of the people who didn’t eat breakfast and was hungry already and so they experienced physiological noise. Physical noise was also present due to some of the audience were whispering to one another. Her channel or medium of communication, which is the most important, was her voice and the microphone which made her voice louder so the whole room can hear what’s she’s saying. The audio-visual aids the speaker was using showed pictures and graphs which helped us, the audience understand better what’s she’s saying. Without it, the audience would be lost and she might also forget what she must say next.
The audience had great feedback. Everybody reacted when she said or asked something and listened intensively to every word of what she’s saying, but when the time came when it was around twelve o’clock almost one third of the audience left. Maybe because they had twelve-thirty classes and had to eat lunch already.
For me, the speaker is really informative and very convincing. She has great verbal and nonverbal skills. She is confident but at the same time sensitive to the audience. Her message had a purpose to not only inform but also persuade and lastly it was backed up with facts. Therefore, yes, I think the speaker is a worthy endeavor.

who's life?
Life is not really that simple, this I have learned early in life. It has its ups and downs. has its ups and downs. an.There are many happy times and there are long, sad times. When you look at me, you would think that I have always been a happy school girl, born with a silver spoon in my mouth. You would think of me as someone WOULD g to His purpose.” who has had a life without any difficulties. You would think that I have everything I ever wanted in life, that I was born and raised in a home with no problems. I may even be the envy of other teenagers like me, but the truth is, my life has not been easy…
At eight in the evening of August twenty-five in the year 1987, I was born. I was a small, very fair-skinned baby. I don’t really have any recollection of happy times before I turned two, except for the birth of my younger sister, Sami.
As we were growing up, there was no real peace in our home. Our parents were fighting almost every night. I really don’t remember the reason why they fought so much. All I can remember was that I felt so sad and scared whenever I saw them fighting. I clearly recall that I would pull my sister into the room and play with her to take away all that agonizing noise from my mind every time they fought. The day came when my parents slept in separate rooms. Even a little girl like me would know that the situation between my mom and dad was getting worse.
Then when I was six years old, I saw My mom walk out of the house with a big bag. “She was leaving for good!” was what it spelled out in my mind. I cried and begged her not to leave us, but she just shut the car door. And I saw her drive the car away. I wanted her to stay so badly because I loved her so much, even if our home was not a happy one. But I was so young then and I couldn’t do anything more.
After a few days, I just couldn’t bear it any longer to be without my mom. I missed her terribly. I cried and cried and begged my dad to bring me to her. Then finally, my dad gave in to the pressure and brought me to her.
My mom and I stayed in a tiny apartment. This was a happy time for us, but secretly, I missed my dad and Sami. Mom and Dad really wanted Sami and I to be together, but they just didn’t know what to do about the situation. I wanted to be with Mom. Sam wanted to be with Dad. And to make it more complicated, little sister, Sam. Mom didn’t want to get back together with Dad. After many arguments, they agreed that Sami and I should see each other at least once a week. So, every Saturday Sami was with us. We called each other up everyday we were apart and together we planned what to do on her next visit.
One Saturday, Sami came to visit us as usual. In the evening, when it was time for my dad to pick her up, she decided not to go home. The next evening, my dad came back, but Sami still didn’t want to go home with him. Instead, she decided to stay with us for good.
My sister and I were so happy because finally, we were going to be together. That was the happy part, but almost every night, I would cry just remembering my dad’s face when Sami said “I don’t like to go with you!” I imagined him being so lonely in the house with no one to talk to. That was the sad part. I often fantasized Dad and Mom picking us up in school, eating dinner at home together, telling stories about each another’s day and my parents tucking Sami and I to bed. I just kept imagining all this until I would fall asleep.
I thought that life was less complicated, though, with my mom and dad separated. At least there was no fighting. It was all peaceful and quiet on the outside, but inside me it was not. I remember seeing my friends’ parents together lots of times. I felt sad and envious, but couldn’t do anything about the awful pain I felt in my heart.
Three years after my parent’s separation, my mom transferred me to a new school, a Christian school. One Wednesday, during chapel hour, our pastor talked about how we could have peace in our hearts. He spoke to us about Jesus Christ. He told us that Jesus gave His life to save us and that if we surrendered our lives to Him, we will have eternal life and have peace in our hearts. Because I needed peace, I surrendered my life to Jesus. Amazingly, I stopped crying that night! Instead I just prayed and talked to God and I found comfort in doing that. I decided to trust Him and found the peace I was looking for. I read the verse: “And we know all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.” This made me realize that what happened to our family was part of God’s plan for me to know about Jesus.
When I grow up I will continue to serve the Lord and I will seek His will in my choice for a life partner, so that I will not make the same mistake my mom did.
Now, I see my dad at least once a month. Although there are still some difficulties, I am still grateful to our Lord because He has made a way for my sister and I to be with both our parents, though at different times.
I have learned that in life, if something arned that in life, if somedayEve or Day with).happens, be it good or bad, happy or sad, there are still so many things to be thankful for. I have learned to accept the Lord’s good plan for my life because I have Jesus.

I have learned to accept the Lord’s good plan for my life because I have Jesus.
social graces
I’ll try to be good in speaking in front of a large audience. Therefore, I have to lessen my shyness. I’ll study harder in my biology and math classes and all future science subjects which I hate because I’m not good at any of it. I’ll try to be not too honest so that I wouldn’t be called “pranka” anymore. Finally, I’ll get my license to drive so that I won’t be useless. In these little ways, I hope I’ll evolve into a socially gracious individual.
I think the answer to this question are my strengths. I am good in writing and English is my favorite subject. I think I am a good friend because whenever my friends need me, I’m always there for them. I’m also honest and diligent. I know how to drive and I love singing and logic.

love story
Once upon a time there was a pretty girl who was in her late teens. She met a man who had nice eyes, full lips, and black hair in a convention in the Philippines. She instantly fell inlove with him. The man asked for her number and she right away
gave it to him. But he easily forgot about her and never texted nor called. The young girl felt sad, but after a few months, the man saw the girl’s number in his old wallet, and he remembered her so he texted her. Everything was just so fast. They became friends, to close friends and finally the man started to court the girl. She was so happy that she wasn’t able to contain her joy, she answered him yes in three days!
Months passed, they were together day and night because they were so happy and inlove with each other. But the story doesn’t end here, after six months of being together, they slowly drifted apart maybe because it was just too fast or maybe for no reason at all. The man started seeing another woman and the girl started seeing other boys too. They both found out and still, they tried to make the relationship work.
It only lasted for a month. The girl realized she was falling for her boy best friend and she told the man and broke up with him. He was really devastated but can’t do anything but to let her go. On Christmas day, the girl was trying to call the man but the man wasn’t answering his phone so she just texted him saying that she was wrong, she still loves him, and if she can still have him back. Sadly, the man never replied and she never heard from him again. She felt lost and abandoned but she didn’t realize that it was all her fault, that everything was so perfect for seven months and she ruined it. She got a pen and made a letter for the man and placed it in a bottle and threw it in the river nearest to the place that they met.

dreaming.
The article “Dare to Dream” from this month’s issue of Reader’s Digest is, as the title says it, about dreams. It talks about why we dream, that one interpretation of a dream doesn’t fit all, decoding the meanings of our dreams and what it can do for us.
“Why do we dream?” the article said that we dream because it is the way for our subconscious minds to communicate to our conscious minds. It also said that it’s like having a therapist inside our brains. Amazing! I thought. Although, I don’t remember all of my dreams when I wake up, I believe in this article. I read it last night, and when I woke up this morning, I remembered three different dreams because I followed the tips on “Upgrade Your Dreams”. After reading this part, I thought, “How intelligent our Lord really is! He designed us to have our own therapist within us?! Cool!”
“Decoding the Meanings”. They say that colors represent emotions. But then again, every one of us has their different colors of blue. It can be dark blue, light blue, sky blue, baby blue, or aqua blue. So it all depends on how we see it.
There is a one big thing dreams can do for us. This is to give us solution to our problems. Any problems, like, for example, the problem is to or not to break up with your boyfriend. All we have to do is think about the question before we sleep and see if we will dream about it to get the solution. Amazing, isn’t it?
One more thing the article talked about is dreaming and at the same time you know it. Here, we can control what we want to dream about. I really like this part. As far as I can remember, this happened to me only once but I never thought that there is a name for it. I thought I was just a weirdo, and that it only happened to me so I never told anyone about it. But now, because of this article, I know better. These kinds of dreams are what we call “lucid dreams”.
At the end, the article concludes that no one can ever interpret our dreams more accurately than ourselves. Well, when you think about it, no one else saw your dream, only you. Therefore, you should and have to be the best interpreter.

what are you?
Positive Negative
Nice Bratty
Obedient Selosa
Giving Inconsistent
Responsible Sleepy
Dependable Stubborn
Loving Lazy
Task-oriented
Behave
Friendly
I will be able to use my good characteristics in little ways. For example, I’ll be obedient to my parents and to other authorities, like the school. I’ll be a responsible student, citizen, daughter, and sister. I’ll be giving to people who are needy. I will also work hard to change my negative characteristics so that there will be changes in my life which will be better.
I will continue to be nice, obedient, giving, responsible, dependable, loving, task-oriented, behave and friendly to help my school a better o and fneor it to be proud of having me in this school in my own little ways. I will also continue to work hard to change my negative characteristics: bratty, selosa, inconsistent, sleepy, stubborn and lazy to be able to serve the school to, again, make it a better school and all these to make the world a better place.

"life's a beach.."
. To get there, take South Luzon Tollway, and exit at Batangas Lucena exit. Drive along the national road until you see a board “Star Tollway” turn right at Star Tollway (Batangas Expressway) up to Lipa Exit. Then head towards Lipa.
Few meters from the Star Tollway exit, you will see De La Salle University Lipa on the left side of the road. Several meters from De La Salle, watch out for “Y” junction (where McDonalds is at the center). Take the road at the right that heads to Lipa town proper. Then follow the road as it merges with another road at the right (where monument is) and watch out for Mercury Drug. Turn right at this street then straightly take this road towards Rosario and Padre Garcia.
About 8.5km from Lipa, there will be a junction that leads to Padre Garcia. From Padre Garcia, Turn left towards Rosario. From the town center of Rosario, Turn left (where South Star Drug Store is) then follow this road until San Juan. Once in san Juan, turn right at the street where municipal hall is (just accross basketall court), and upon entering the road, you will see billboards indicating beach resorts of Laiya. Follow this road until you reach the unconcreted part. This means you are in the vicinity. From this point and the succeeding distance, you will see a lot of resort signboards along the road. All of them lead to resorts along the beaches of Aplaya, Laiya, and Hugom

Analyzing It
The girl in Edouard Manet’s painting is sitting down.in a maroon, purple, red printed sala set or sofa that is high enough that she can put her elbows in a marble-like table in front of her. Her head is resting in her hand while in the other hand is a cigarette which is not lit. The painting is not that clear. It’s a little bit of blurry. The girl is in a, I think, a Victorian setting or whatever, I’m not sure what you call it. All I know its in an old time setting. For me, the girl is about my age. Around eighteen or nineteen years old. She’s too fair. Her dress is almost the same color as er face and body. She’s not that pretty and seems to be sad at the same time waiting for someone who’s taking so long that she’s getting bored of waiting. She has a brown ice cream in front of her which looks like a lot of chocolate flavored ice cream and the spoon is under the whole thing that it seems to be not there at all but when you look at it, it’s there! The ice cream is placed in a nice, clean, clear ice cream glass. The seat in which she is sitting on has which seems to be a glass window or painting behind it. It has blue, violet and pinkish lavender color. The glass window or painting has a light brown wooden edging or frame around it,
although we can only see a corner. Beside it is a brown wall which has lines in it. It
looks like it is made out of wood.
Back to the girl, I don’t think she’s pretty because of her features. Besides, her face is too small for her body, her right ear is protruding. She also has small set of eyes, although one is bigger than the other one. Her nose is okay for her face but her lips are too small. Her lips are also almost as white as her skin except for the fact that it has a hint of pink in it which I think the artist added to little in it. Her dress is one of the fads today, I even wore a top like it during my birthday (except that mine was sleeveless). She is one of the people we call a red head. But her short hair is covered by a black hat that has laces around it in which I think it’s good because she won’t feel the laces’ itchyness. The girl is not wearing accessories that made my sister and I argue if she is a girl or a boy. She’s so pale! She can even look like a dead person.
I know, all I did was made a mean comment about the painting, but I think it’s nice because I couldn’t even make a painting as detailed as this. Amazing at how Edouard Manet made it so real. I can even feel the girl’s emotions even if she isn’t that pretty to me.
